Therapy and Counselling for Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Trauma in Woodley and Reading

Individual Counselling

Counselling offers a safe, confidential space in which you can explore difficulties in your life and begin to make sense of experiences that may feel confusing, painful, or overwhelming.

I believe that counselling works best as a collaborative process. Together, we explore what may have contributed to the issues you want to address, allowing understanding to develop and more fulfilling ways of living to emerge. The counselling I offer is grounded in a non-judgemental and respectful relationship, where what you say is listened to carefully, taken seriously, and explored openly.

Within this kind of supportive space, harmful patterns of relating, unhelpful behaviours, difficulties with emotions, and past experiences that continue to affect the present can be worked through. Many people find that this leads to a greater sense of freedom, clarity, and renewed energy for life.

Initial Contact

When you first make contact, we will discuss by phone or email what you are hoping to gain from counselling. This provides an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to consider whether counselling feels right for you at this time. If you decide to proceed, we will arrange a time and location for an initial assessment.

Initial Assessment

The initial session is an assessment lasting fifty minutes. This session allows us to explore in more detail what has brought you to counselling and what you would like from the process. I will gather information to help me understand your particular circumstances, and together we will think about how we might work in a way that feels helpful and supportive.

If we decide to continue, sessions are usually arranged on a weekly or twice-weekly basis, each lasting fifty minutes.

Counselling Sessions

Ongoing counselling sessions focus on exploring whatever feels most relevant and important for you. You are encouraged to bring to the sessions the issues you would like to work with, and we explore these together at a pace that feels manageable. The work may involve understanding current difficulties, exploring past experiences, or developing new ways of relating to yourself and others.
