Therapy and Counselling for Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Trauma in Woodley and Reading

Couples Counselling in Woodley and Reading

All relationships experience challenges at times. When difficulties arise, it can be hard to talk things through without conversations becoming stuck, repetitive, or painful. Couples counselling offers a space where both partners can be heard and understood, and where new ways of relating can begin to develop.

If you live in Woodley or the surrounding Reading area and are considering couples or marriage counselling, I offer a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental environment in which to explore what is happening in your relationship. I have trained at several psychotherapy institutes in couples counselling and maintain ongoing Continual Professional Development in this area.

Couples counselling provides a structured space to reflect on how you relate to one another, understand patterns that may be causing difficulty, and work towards more fulfilling ways of being together. Sessions focus on safety, openness, and developing healthier forms of communication and connection.

Relationship Counselling for Couples

Couples counselling often involves exploring areas of tension or conflict that have built up over time. This may include past hurts, difficulties with communication, trust issues, sexual concerns, or differences in needs, expectations, or values. Counselling allows these issues to be explored carefully, with attention to both partners’ experiences.

Couples counselling is not only for relationships in crisis. Many couples choose to attend even when there are no specific problems, as a way of strengthening their relationship, improving communication, or gaining a deeper understanding of one another.

If you are a couple based in Woodley or Reading and would like to talk to an experienced and accredited couples counsellor, you are very welcome to get in touch.

Initial Assessment for Couples Counselling

Your first couples counselling session is an initial assessment lasting fifty minutes. This session provides an opportunity for both of you to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from the process.

During this time, I will gather information to help me understand your relationship and circumstances, and together we will consider how we might work in a way that feels supportive and constructive for you both.

Ongoing Couples Counselling Sessions

Ongoing sessions focus on exploring whatever feels most helpful and relevant to your relationship. This may involve understanding recurring patterns, improving communication, working through unresolved issues, or developing new ways of responding to one another.

At times, there may be an invitation to reflect on or explore aspects of your relationship between sessions, where this feels appropriate and supportive of change.

All close relationships have their ups and downs, and many couples experience periods of difficulty. The important thing is that you do not have to face these challenges alone. If you would like to book your first couples counselling session in Woodley or the Reading area, you can contact me via the online form or by phone.
